OUTSIDE HANOI
As you can see in the HANOI tab, we visited many places but here we highlight those we visited outside of Hanoi. And Ninh Binh is one of those that’s really worth it!
BAT TRANG POTTERY VILLAGE
This village is on the outskirts of Hanoi and as the name indicated is a village totally dedicated to pottery.
We called a Grab (same as Uber) and asked to leave us at the beginning of the village in order to be able to pass through the various factories and artisans having at the end a large market dedicated to pottery.
This village is located right next to the red river and is of historical importance in Asia. If you want, you have many workshops where you can learn and make your souvenir to take home.
NINH BINH
We decided to go to Ninh Binh through a tour as it’s more practical.
We went and came back the same day, despite being about a 3 hour drive south of Hanoi. It may be a good option to stay there for at least 1 night.
Here you’ll find deep Vietnam and a completely rural area. There are buffaloes in the water, farmers in the field and spectacular views. It far exceeded our expectations. Some people call this zone the terrestrial Halong Bay. You have lots of caves that you can visit across the Ngo Dong River. It has very high limestone cliffs, surrounded by the river and a lot of lush green countryside. You can cross the river for about 3 hours, in a boat in which the women paddle with their feet. Visiting Ninh Binh is in our memory for the beauty of the place.
