ALMADA & CACILHAS

Almada and Cacilhas, the other side of Lisbon

One of the most incredible views of the city of Lisbon, a breathtaking sunset and excellent restaurants with the best of portuguese cuisine.

The place is full of charms and is gradually being discovered by tourists. To get to Cacilhas just take one of the different ferrys at Cais do Sodré in Lisbon from Transtejo.

The trip is super fast by boat and the price for the round trip is €2.60 plus €0.50 for the Viva Lisboa card, which you have to buy at the machines where you buy your boat ticket.

If you have already purchased the card, for example, to use the Metro or Buses, you don't need to buy another one. This rechargeable card is for use on all transport in the Lisbon area.

One of the main reasons why Cacilhas is known is the gastronomic variety and views it has throughout Lisbon.

The village has a great restaurants serving fresh fish mainly on Cândido dos Reis Street, one of the main streets in the village.

In Cacilhas you can also visit the Frigate D. Fernando II e Glória, which works as a museum ship and the Barracuda submarine, which will one day also be a museum.

You also have the Church of Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso and the Jardim do Castelo de Cacilhas viewpoint.

Next to the boat station, if you walk to the right side always along the Tagus River, you will find several old factories painted with street art and at the end of this walk you will find 2 bar-restaurants (Atira-te ao Rio and Ponto Final) where you can enjoy a drink while taking in the view.

If you continue to walk and cross the cafes you'll find a large garden and a panoramic elevator that takes you to Almada Velha (old town). In Almada Velha you can walk peacefully through the streets and then catch, for example, an Uber and visit The Sanctuary of Christ the King (Cristo Rei) and/or its spectacular viewpoint.

Cristo Rei is one of the most visited attractions in the city of Almada and Lisbon. The Sanctuary is a religious monument and is located at an altitude of 133 meters above the level of the Tagus. In other words, it offers an incredible view!

It's a different look over the 25 de Abril Bridge and the city of Lisbon and we guarantee it's the best view you'll have over the city.

If you have free time on your visit to Lisbon, don't miss this tour, you won't regret it!

The options to get to Cacilhas and Almada are:

By car: it's the fastest way or not! It depends on traffic and it can be your own car, rented, taxi or Uber.

By ferry: from Cais do Sodré, the journey takes 10 minutes and the boat leaves every 20 minutes.

By bus: the journey is too long and doesn't pay off, but it can also be done from Cais do Sodré, using the following lines: 108, 114, 160, 203, 254.

There are several ways to get to Cacilhas and Almada, but we recommend the ferry.
