MALTA

GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE

GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO TO MALTA

- Malta is part of the Schengen Area and, as such, European citizens only need an ID card to enter the country.

- Avoid the summer so you don't have to visit the country full of crowds of tourists and the scorching sun.

- If you don't want to rent a car or go on tours all the time, there are plenty of buses everywhere. There are also several ferries and taxi boats. Moving around Malta is easy.

- Wear comfortable shoes. You will face many ascents, descents and stairs.

- Buy and use the Tallinja Explore Card: bus for 7 consecutive days on the island of Malta.

- If you buy the bus tickets on board, take change, drivers often do not give change.

- If you can, stay at least 3 nights in Gozo.

- Nudity is not allowed anywhere and women are not allowed to go topless.

- There are several apps to call transport, such as Uber, Bolt, Ecabs and Cool.

- You really have to try Maltese pastizzi. They are puff pastry, sold on the streets or in any pastizzeriji (pastry shop). They should be eaten hot and can be made with ricotta or peas.

- Make sure to try the local beer named Cisk or drink the local orange soft drink named Kinnie.

- You can now drink the tap water in Malta but we suggest getting a filtered water bottle to make sure your water is clean before using.

- Malta uses plugs of type G (yet another British influence) and operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.

- If you rent a car, don't forget that in Malta driving is on the left.

- The currency used in Malta is the Euro.

- If you want to go to the beach in Malta, many have rocks, so we advise you to buy some watershoes.

- Despite Malta being a developed country, we always advise you to have travel insurance (IATI click HERE).
