TORREMOLINOS & MALAGA
OCTOBER 2022
We visited Torremolinos again for the 3rd time and finally went without restrictions due to Covid.
There's not much more to add to what we've already said (see Torremolinos report here), but this fascinating city is constantly calling out to us.
We went by car again, leaving Albufeira (Algarve) and after about 4h30 we arrived at the little paradise, the big gay city of Torremolinos.
We stayed again at the Nogalera condominium through Airbnb, right above all the bars, restaurants and clubs and in the city center. For us, this is the best location in town, you can do everything on foot.
If you go by car, the parking is still the same, the best street to park is Calle Casablanca, if there is an employee on the street of the ayuntamiento you pay 1β¬ and the car can stay there as long as you want without paying anything else. If no one is there when you arrive, you don't pay and go about your day.
Now you also have the new train station in Nogalera square, where the trains to Malaga and Malaga airport stop or in the opposite direction go towards Fuengirola.
That's what we did on one of the days, it's not worth taking a car. If you want to go sightseeing in Malaga, as we did for the 2nd time, take the train and get off right at the Malaga center station. The journey is quick, takes less than 30 minutes and the trains are comfortable. There are several machines at the station where you can buy your round trip ticket for around β¬4.50. When you arrive in Malaga, head towards the historic center and walk through the different streets. On our 2nd visit we ended up discovering new streets and places... So Malaga is always a destination to come back and rediscover. See our Malaga report here.
We also recommend again taking a walk along the giant seafront along the beach that runs from El Banjodilo beach to Carihuela. Don't forget to also go through Calle del Peligro, Calle del Banjodilo that goes to the top where the main shopping street in the city, Calle San Miguel, begins/ends.
The various streets of the city are still full of life and people, with an incredible "movida". If you like, sit on a terrace and enjoy the movement.
Torremolinos is not a city to stay in a hotel room or apartment at night. It is mandatory to go out for a drink and see who passes by. The atmosphere is always lively and lots of people walk around the dozens of bars.
The best thing is to explore the different locations and choose the one that suits you best. We visited several places, almost a must visit. Day and night, we recommend the 3 Monkeys. This is where we always go in the late afternoon to have a cool drink or eat something and it's always our place at the beginning of the night. Then we also advise Colibri Copas, a super friendly employee and is right next to 3 Monkeys. The Lights Bar, we always visit, has a super relaxed and fun atmosphere and a super friendly staff. If you prefer a more "international" and more "fashion" environment, in our opinion, Aqua is the ideal place. If you go to the Aqua Bar and then want to go dancing at the Aqua Club, ask for a wristband at the Aqua Bar, to gain access to the club, with a lower entry fee! ;)
If you are a fan of a more mature environment, just for men, with a dance space and a dark room, we recommend the Mens Bar.
As we said, there are dozens of bars, several clubs for all types of atmosphere and restaurants. We guarantee a lot of variety. Every time we come back, we discover new places, such as Mariquitas Copas, the new El Gato restaurant on Calle Casablanca, which is open day and night, the new Gastrobar Antonita la Fantastica, among others...
We were once again in Torremolinos for a week and we loved it. We will be back again and look forward to very soon. If you don't know, start planning your visit and you won't regret it.
