CANCUN
We were in Cancun for only 2 days.
We decided to stay only that time due to the proximity to the airport and because we had already read that it was not the best place in Riviera Maya. And we confirmed: in a whole month that we were in Mexico, it was the place we liked least.
Cancun is beautiful, but in short it’s a beach with huge all-inclusive resorts and it’s not something we like. It was also the place where we felt the most pressure from the vendors and the restaurants, as well as we found the atmosphere in general a little heavy. The bars in the hotel zone, the area where we stayed, also did not please us, since everything seemed very artificial and it was not our favorite environment.
In Cancun we did a little beach and a lot of swimming at the hotel where we stayed.
We arrived in Cancun from the Holbox island. Took the ferry to Chiquila, then the Ado bus to Cancun city and finally a taxi to the hotel area. We stayed at the Selina Cancun Laguna hotel. We really liked the hotel, right by the lagoon and very close to the bars and the beach.
In the 2 days we stayed, as we said, we did a lot of swimming, we strolled around the area a little and close by you have Market 28, Playa Delfines and Boulevard kukultan.
In short, we don’t love Cancun, it does serve to be near the airport, but anyone who likes big all-inclusive resorts could be the ideal place.
